Elizabeth, at home with her family...

Dear God, Protect our children from the Evil in the world...
Thank You for bringing Elizabeth home to her family. For keeping her alive and well. The horror this child must have gone through is unforgivable. We thank you for bringing her back. With Your LOVE and care, & her loving family, she will make it through this terrible ordeal. People all over the world, everyone has fallen in love with Elizabeth and are praying for her. I pray Elizabeth can continue on with her musical education and that her dream of going on to Julliard will come true. One day I would love to see her perform in front of millions. I love the sound of Harp music, it is so very beautiful and she performs so well.. Dear Father, Comfort her and help her to put the past year behind her. May her days ahead be filled with your love...She has the rest of her life and so much to offer, Thank You dear Lord and Savior!
Elizabeth is such a lovely young lady and I
wish her all the best in the years to come..
God bless this family, That is my prayer...
Elizabeth is on the road to recovery. Her sister, Mary Katherine was nominated as one of those who should receive reward money, which is $295.000.00. Twenty nine people have filed claims or been nominated for shares of the money. The award money is from private donors and the FBI. If Mary Katherine is awarded any of the reward the family plan to donate it to The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
Mary Katherin after a couple months, remembered the man who was hired to do work around the house, roofing, etc. a year and a half earlier... She went to her parents and told them that she thought the voice of the man who kidnapped Elizabeth by knifepoint reminded her of Mitchell. She thought he had kidnapped Elizabeth by knife point in the middle of the night. It took several months and then going public with it before there were drawings made, where Mitchell was immediately identified. His looks changing from clean cut to a wild eyed long haired transient...his family recognized him and called in to identify him... Soon people were contacting FBI as they recognized his photo and remembered seeing him throughout Salt Lake City and near San Diago...

Salt Lake City ~ June 2002 Elizabeth, then 14 was take at knifepoint from her bedroom, Mary Katherine her younger sister was in the same room with Elizabeth the night a stranger broke into the home and kidnapped Elizabeth. She disappeared, and for several months they were searching for her without any luck. Then about two months after she was away, Mary Katherine told her parents and police that the man who took her sister sounded somewhat like the man who had worked on the families home a year and a half earlier. (Mitchell had worked on the Smarts roof in November 2001.)
Elizabeth had been held captive in a makeshift cave high in the mountains above the family home. Spending 2 months there, Mitchell and his wife brain washed her before taking her down into the city where they spent several months on the streets before going to San Diago. After she was found and others saw how she was dressed, many realized that they had seen her with Mitchell and his wife several times. Both women were dressed in dingy white robes with their heads covered and a cloth covering their faces with only their eyes showing. They never spoke, leaving Mitchell do all the talking. Mitchell a self-proclaimed prophet told her God had spoke to him and told him to take 7 wives. He picked Elizabeth for his second wife. He performed a marriage ceremony in the hills near the make shift cave where they stayed. Mitchell and Barzee are now in jail awaiting trial for her abduction. Being held for burglary, kidnapping, and sexual assault.
After nine months of praying and searching by friends relatives and family, Elizabeth was spotted in a Salt Lake City suburb with Brian Mitchell and Wanda Barzee, the transients who have been charged with her kidnapping. They had just returned from San Diago, Californina. She was guestioned and returned to her family March 12, 2003. after her father came to identify her as she was by this time going by another name, and she tried to tell the police she was not Elizabeth, or 'that girl who had run away'. She was very mixed up, or brain washed by then.
Now fifteen, she is trying to reclaim her life, spending alot of time with her family and friends. She is going to church and making trips to the mall but is not back at school yet. She is being home tutored and also taking online courses through the summer and will return to high school next fall. She is never out alone and others have recognized her but do not confront her about her ordeal, all have been very kind...
The family will not press Elizabeth to talk about her ordeal. As for a trial, Larsen, who is the family spokesperson said she has no idea what Elizabeth thinks of facing her two alleged captors in court. The Smarts will do all they can to protect her...
The Smart family has had many offers of book and movie deals. The family is going to choose someone who they want to make the movie. It comes down to an opportunity to tell the story or watch someone do an unauthorized version, said Chris Thomas, another spokesperson.
The song playing is 'One Voice' by Billy Gillman
taken from my cd.
I have wanted for some time now to make a page and use Billy Gillman's song "One Voice". I decided to use it for Elizabeth Smarts homecoming also. Our prayers were heard and she is safely at home. Read her story below...
Some kids have
And some kids dont.
And some of us
Are wondering why ~
And mom wont watch
The news at night,
There's to much stuff
that's making her cry. ~
We need some help,
Down here on earth ~
A thousand prayers,
A million words ~
One voice was heard. ~
A house, a yard,
A neighborhood,
where you could ride
your new bike to school ~
A kind of world
Where mom and dad
Still believe the golden rule,~
Life's not that simple,
Down here on earth.
A thousand prayers,
A million words. ~
One voice was heard........
One voice, One simple word,
Hearts know what to say, ~
One dream can change the world.
Keep believing till you find your way. ~
Yesterday while walking home
I saw a kid on Newberry road, ~
He pulled a pistol from his bag
And tossed it in the river below. ~
Thanks for the help
Down here on earth
A thousand prayers
A million words, ~
One voice was heard ~~~
