Pict 1 He's a recent High School graduate; he was probably an average student, pursued some form of sport activities, drives a ten year old jalopy, and has a steady girlfriend that either broke up with him when he left, or swears to be waiting when he returns from half a world away. He listens to rock and roll or hip-hop or rap or jazz or swing and 155mm howizzitor. He is 10 or 15 pounds lighter now than when he was at home because he is working or fighting from before dawn to well after dusk.

He has trouble spelling, thus letter writing is a pain for him, but he can field strip a rifle in 30 seconds and reassemble it in less time in the dark. He can recite to you the nomenclature of a machine gun or grenade launcher and use either one effectively if he must. He digs foxholes and latrines and can apply first aid like a professional. He can march until he is told to stop or stop until he is told to march.

He obeys orders instantly and without hesitation, but he is not without spirit or individual dignity. He is self-sufficient. He has two sets of fatigues: he washes one and wears the other. He keeps his canteens full and his feet dry. He sometimes forgets to brush his teeth, but never to clean his rifle. He can cook his own meals, mend his own clothes, and fix his own hurts. If you're thirsty, he'll share his water with you; if you are hungry, his food. He'll even split his ammunition with you in the midst of battle when you run low.


He has learned to use his hands like weapons and weapons like they were his hands. He can save your life - or take it, because that is his job. He will often do twice the work of a civilian, draw half the pay and still find ironic humor in it all. He has seen more suffering and death then he should have in his short lifetime.

He has stood atop mountains of dead bodies, and helped to create them. He has wept in public and in private, for friends who have fallen in combat and is unashamed. He feels every note of the Na tional Anthem vibrate through his body while at rigid attention, while tempering the burning desire to 'square-away' those around him who haven't bothered to stand, remove their hat, or even stop talking. In an odd twist, day in and day out, far from home, he defends their right to be disrespectful.


Just as did his Father, Grandfather, and Great-grandfather, he is paying the price for our freedom. Beardless or not, he is not a boy. He is the American Fighting Man that has kept this country free for over 200 years.

He has asked nothing in return, except our friendship and understanding. Remember him, always, for he has earned our respect and admiration with his blood. And we have woman over there in danger, doing their part in this tradition of going to War when our nation calls us to do so. As you go to bed tonight, remember this shot.. A short lull, a little shade and a picture of loved ones in their helmets.......

President Bush declares war on Irag 

Pres Bush said We are a country awakened to danger and called to defend freedom.  Our grief has turned to anger, and anger to resolution.  Whether we bring our enemies to justice, or bring justice to our enemies, justice will be done.

March 22,2003  American and coalition forces have begun a concerted campaign against the regime of saddam Hussein. 
In this war, our coalition is broad, more than 40 countries. Our cause is just, the security of the nations we serve and the peace of the world.  Our mission is clear, to disarm Iraq of weapons of mass destruction, to end Saddam Hussein's support for terrorism, and to free the Iraqi people.  Across America this weekend, the families of our military are praying that our men and women will return safely and soon.  Millions of Americans are praying with them for the safety of theri loved ones and for the protection of all the innocent. 

Our nation appreciates the sacrifices made by military families, and many citizens who live near military famiies are showing theri support in practical ways, such as helping with child care, or home repairs, etc..

The people of the United States and our friends and allies wiill not live at the mercy of an outlaw regime that threatens the peace with weapons of mass murder.
It is a fight for the security of our nation and the peace of the world, and we will not accept no outcome but victory.

Many men and women in the military are still in Irag fighting for our country. We have lost many military lives, and civillian who are there trying to rebuild the country. This is a horrible for their families.  We will never forget them and all they gave up to fight for the our country,  the United States.  Many families are left to grieve. somehow they must go on.  We must pray for those brave men and women in the military who have stood up bravely for us. Continue to pray for them and do all we can to help them through this period..Many are still fighting and they all need our prayers. Pray for them till they return home safely and there is an end to this war...

Many children are left without mothers and fathers. This is very freightening to us, It is terrifying to them.  They will ask questions and we need to know how to answer them.  Click here to learn more about how we can help the children..

The President's Message to America's Military and Their Families

"My fellow citizens: When freedom needs defending, America turns to our military.
I want to thank those who wear our uniform.  Thank you for your sacrifice. 
And as our men and women in uniform do their job, they count on their families.  This time of war has been a time of hardship for many military families.  Some of you have been separated from your loved ones by long deployments.  Your're dealing with added burdens at home, while praying for your husband or wife, or son or daughter, father or mother far from home. 

ALL OF AMERICA IS GRATEFUL FOR YOUR SACRIFICE.  OUR WHOLE NATION IS PROUD OF THE HONORABLE CONDUCT OF OUR MILITARY, AND I AM PROUD TO BE YOUR COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF.
